Hypneumat’s 200 series quad drilling units are 4 independently controlled spindles integrated into one solid body construction. These straight bore spindles are on 3″ centers.
Hickenbottom, Inc. needed a reliable replacement for an old drilling machine. Hypneumat listened to the client’s needs and delivered an idea to increase the company’s production with reliability and longevity that will last for decades to come.
A RELIABLE SOLUTION BUILT FOR DECADES
THE BACKGROUND: Hickenbottom inlets are utilized in a variety of commercial, recreational, agricultural, and municipal applications. Each inlet is made of high-density polyethylene insuring the longevity and durability of the product. They needed the same in the machine that drills them with the versatility to drill a wide range of inlet sizes.
THE CHALLENGE: The client needed a multiple spindle drilling machine to drill twenty (20) 1-1/4″ holes in a 24″ HDPE inlet pipe and also capable to drill their current 12″ (15″ OD), 15″ (18″ OD), 24″ (29 1/2″ OD) and possibly 36″ inlets in the future. Reliability and longevity was a paramount concern.
THE DELIVERY: Hypneumat designed and built a machine with a DQ56E series feed unit powered by a high efficiency on demand hydraulic power package and 7.5HP spindle motor. This drilling unit drives a custom 20 spindle adjustable heavy duty multi-head, drilling twenty (20) 1-1/4” holes in high-density polyethylene inlet tubes.
The fixture is setup to rotate the part for drilling perimeter holes in inlet tubes and is designed to incorporate inlet diameters ranging from 12” to 48”. This machine is also capable of a wide range of rapid advance and retract speeds as well as variable drill feed rates. The drilling unit and multi-head are mounted to framework that can be raised or lowered to accommodate different inlet sizes.
This Hypneumat Lead-Screw Tapping Machine is setup will full controls, an LS36E lead screw tapper, part presence sensors, HMI screen, floating tool holder, machine guarding and light curtain.
Shown is a 12 Station Dial Index Chamfering Machine built by Hypneumat, Inc. This machine chamfers 6 holes on 2 parts at one time and automatically ejects completed parts into a bin after each cycle. This 6 spindle Commander 500 Series multi head is powered by a Hypneumat DQ46EHB auto feed unit. Machine output capability exceeds 1,000 parts per hour.
This Commander 8-12 Series Drill Head is powered by a Hypneumat M Series 3.5″ Stroke Drilling Unit. This project utilizes multiple 12 spindle fixed position plates that can be swapped out during job changeover for different hole patterns.
This drilling system consists of a Hypneumat DQ58 Pneumatic Feed Unit and 16 Spindle Drill Head. 1,650 pounds of thrust, 7.5 HP motor at 2,000 rpm spindle speed, ER16 collet spindles, and spring loaded drill bushing plate.
Hypneumat just completed over a dozen 6 spindle drilling heads. These robust fixed spindle gear driven heads have (6) ER16 collet spindles set at 1.5″ centers.
This tapping station consists of a Hypneumat LS46E Lead Screw Tapper and Centreline 6 spindle tapping head. A 7.5HP SEW motor is driving the (6) 3/4″ straight bore spindles at 600 rpm, roll forming 1/4-20 threads. These components are mounted on a Hypneumat fixed vertical weldment and the entire module will be integrated into a machine manufactured by a local special machinery builder.
Hypneumat recently built this slant bed tapping machine equipped with a LS36E Lead Screw tapper and Vibra-Flight vibratory bowl and part feeding magazine. This machine will tap a 1/4-28 thread with unattended operation. Full electrical and pneumatic controls, quick change floating tool holder and coolant pump were included.
Hypneumat recently built another swaging machine for a local customer’s aerospace application. This bench style machine will swag bearings, utilizing a Hypneumat DQ350EHB power feed unit and a Cabco Industries tri-roller tool. This machine was designed to allow for adjustability of time, force and depth of the swaging operation.
